How to Care for Hydrangeas
Watering, soil and pruning — everything you need for spectacular blooms.

Hydrangeas are rewarding plants as long as you respect a few of their needs.
1. Choose the right spot
Morning sun and afternoon shade are ideal. In hot, full sun the leaves wilt.
2. Watering
Hydrangeas love moisture. In summer water deeply at the base 2–3 times a week.
3. Soil and colour
Acidic soil turns flowers blue; alkaline soil keeps them pink.
4. Pruning
Remove faded flower heads after blooming and do the main pruning in early spring.
